Students are continuing to see teachers who are a different gender than they are, and a different skin color. Does it matter? Yes, according to a significant body of research: Students tend to benefit from having teachers who look like them, especially nonwhite students.

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is now accepting entries for its Fourth Annual Picture Freedom Art Contest — a nationwide student art competition sponsored by Toyota. Picture Freedom challenges students to create works of art capturing America’s struggle for inclusive freedom and equality. Selected Works Will Be Featured In Special Exhibition Sponsored By Toyota Summer 2018.
