Nation’s Arts Report Card

What knowledge and skills do eighth graders have in visual arts and music? How does access to arts education vary across the country? How have American students’ knowledge and skills in the arts changed since 2008?

The 2016 NAEP Arts Assessment Report, also known as the Nation’s Arts Report Card, was released on April 25, 2017 by the National Assessment Governing Board in a live webinar event at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. NAEA Executive Director Deborah B. Reeve, Chief Learning Officer Dennis Inhulsen, and Policy/Legislative Liaison Kathi R. Levin, were in attendance as well as many leaders from other national arts education organizations, the Arts Education Partnership, the National Endowment for the Arts, the U. S. Department of Education, Maryland and Virginia State Departments of Education, and Washington Metropolitan area arts education organizations.
